History of the Penobscot County Conservation Association

The PCCA is a volunteer organization comprised of sportsmen from the local area. Our organization was originally formed as the "Penobscot Valley Fish and Game Association" PCCA members scoring a targetin 1921. Since that time, our members have carried on a rich history of preserving our wilderness, wildlife and sporting heritage.

 

Some dates of note:

  • 1921: The club was founded, then known as the "Penobscot Valley Fish & Game Association."
    1935: The PCCA began the first annual Eastern Maine Sportsmen's Show.
  • 1950: The club started the first junior conservation camp.
  • 1958: The club began a Hunter's Safety Program.
  • 1960: The PCCA began issuing college scholarships.
