History of the Penobscot County Conservation Association
The PCCA is a volunteer organization comprised of sportsmen from the local area. Our organization was originally formed as the "Penobscot Valley Fish and Game Association" in 1921. Since that time, our members have carried on a rich history of preserving our wilderness, wildlife and sporting heritage.
Some dates of note:
- 1921: The club was founded, then known as the "Penobscot Valley Fish & Game Association."
1935: The PCCA began the first annual Eastern Maine Sportsmen's Show. - 1950: The club started the first junior conservation camp.
- 1958: The club began a Hunter's Safety Program.
- 1960: The PCCA began issuing college scholarships.
