PCCA Newsletter, April 2009

Spring has arrived and the brooks and streams are free of ice and everyone is glad the winter is almost gone. The winter has been long and cold but that is the cost of the great life we have in Maine.

The 71st Annual Sportsman Show has come and gone with great success. The show committee did an “outstanding” job of making the show one of the best in Maine. They would like to “Thank Everyone” that helped with the show because it only happens with every ones efforts, large or small. There were many people that we talked with at the show that said it is one of the best organized that they attend each year. If you get a chance to attend another sportsman show around the state this spring, look for new exhibitors or speakers that could be used at the our show next year. Please see Woody Higgins and give him the information.

The floors have now been refinished in the building and they really look great. This new appearance will help with renting of the building for events or catering.

There will be a Biggest Spring Turkey contest this May. Please see Deane Smith at the April Supper meeting. There will sign up sheets and the cost will be $5.00 for adults(16 and older) and $2.00 for youth (10-15). The winning turkey by (weight) will get the pot of money for that group of hunters, adult/ youth .

The speakers for April meeting will be the University of Maine Wildlife students from Orono, so please come and enjoy the evening and a great meal.
