Presidential Ramblings:
By: Jay Munson
It is hard to believe; another year has come and gone. It does not seem possible that the holidays are gone again and we are left to settle in for another Maine winter. The good news is that before we know it spring will be here again.
We are in the process of revising our land management plan for the Stetson Land. In doing so, we have been in contact with a forester from Prentiss and Carlisle. After the initial meeting, we are very interested in working with them and are awaiting more information from them. I will keep everyone posted as to future meetings and plans for the land.
The following is an excerpt from an email sent from Greenland Point reference their annual dinner. Anyone interested should talk to Woody, Al or Nancy about car pooling from the club to Princeton. Please consider donating items for the fundraiser immediately following the meal.
The roast beef/turkey dinner at the PRG for GPC benefit is scheduled for Saturday Feb 2nd @5:30 pm with a Chinese Raffle following dinner. We happily accept any donations.
The cost is $12 including homemade strawberry shortcake for dessert. Children under 12 get in for 1/2 price.
Greenland Point will hold our annual meeting at the Princeton Rod & Gun Club the same day @ 1:00 pm.
Supper Meeting: December 6th, 6:00 P.M. at the clubhouse
The meal this month will be Chicken Pie with cranberry sauce.
The speaker this month will be Warden Rick Ouellette of the Maine Warden Service. Warden Ouellette has recently moved here from the county where he began his career in the Warden Service. Warden Ouellette spent some time out to the Stetson Land this past November looking over our land. Please come listen to what Warden Ouellette has to say.
I would like to encourage all of you to please attempt to make the meeting as this is your opportunity to not only catch up on old friendships and current events with in the club, but this is also your opportunity to express your cares and concerns reference the club and the direction it is headed in.
Club Activities:
The Sportsman’s Show is coming right up. The dates of the 2008 show are March 14th through the 16th. Please see Woody or myself if you are able to assist in anyway with the show.
The club is raffling off 3 guns and a gun cabinet this winter as a fund raiser. We will be selling tickets at the sportsmen’s show as well as mailing tickets out to each club member. We would like to see each member purchase the tickets sent to them as a way of supporting the club. We would also like to see each member then request additional tickets that can in turn be sold to family, friends and coworkers.
Work Days:
Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at the clubhouse at 6:00 P.M.
Reservations for the Club House:
Any requests for use of the club or inquires as to available dates should be directed to Karen Wilson. Karen has volunteered to take responsibility for the scheduling of all events at the club. Karen will be coordinating with Nancy Hatch for any events that will have a catered meal.
If anyone knows of someone or an organization looking for a place to hold a meeting either catered or not catered please see Karen for available dates and other details.
