There is movement afoot to establish a scholarship fund in the name of Walter Dixon. The Board discussed this at our last meeting and the matter has been tabled until more is known about this fund.
On February 11th Barry Burgason will again be heading up the annual duck box project at the Stetson land. Bring your snowmobiles (if we have snow) and meet at the club camp at 9am. I went on this detail last year and it is a very interesting time and also educational and fun. Come out and see what's using the several dozen boxes we have out. Bring hot drinks and munchies if you'd like.
John Anderson informed the board that we have been given a 35' tower and a radio for emergency communication. This will enhance our emergency shelter status.
The 68th Eastern Maine Sportsman Show is coming on March 17, 18, 19 and we will have sign up sheets for ticket sellers and door guards at the meeting. Show times are Friday 5pm-9pm, Saturday 9am-8pm, and Sunday 10am-4pm. Please sign up to help with this most important fund raiser. We are back in the "pit" again so the show will be bigger and better than ever. We have Baxter the 525 lb black back and Casey the cougar is joining him in the field house. The Gun raffle is also on going so get out and sell tickets. See Forrest Davis for tickets.
Don't forget the Roast Beef dinner at the Princeton Rod and Gun Club on Feb 4th at 5:30pm. This is a fund raiser for Greenland Point. There will be an auction at this dinner. A total of over $1,500.00 was raised from the seafood raffle. Thanks for you help. Dale Miller from Machias won.
Just a reminder if you haven’t read the club history by Paul Uttormark get a copy and do so. It is interesting reading.
By having the "pit" for the Sportsman Show we have more booth space than before. If you know of anyone you think might want to come in the show ask them. We have room at this time. They can either contact me at 945-6853 or Paul Colburn at 945-9850. It might be someone you do business with.
Dean Smith (who brought in a new vendor for the show last week) is heading up a Wild Turkey contest. There will be a $5.00 entry fee and prizes will be offered for the biggest turkey, longest beard, and longest spurs. See Dean and sign up.
I look forward to seeing you on the 2nd.
