January, 2006 Newsletter
President: Woody Higgins
Meeting Date January 6, 2006
A smothered beef dinner will be served at 6:30 pm.
It should be 2006 by the time you get this newsletter and I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and an enjoyable New Year's Eve. I look for 2006 to be another great year for the PCCA.
The 2006 version of the Eastern Maine Sportsman Show is off to a good start as contracts from vendors are coming in at a good pace and we already have quite a few new people.
This is the 68th show and that in itself is quite a lot to be proud of, and all done by volunteers. We are looking forward to a bigger and better show and will be asking for your help as show time gets near. The dates for this years show are March 17, 18, 19. As this is one of the PCCA's bigger fund raisers your help is appreciated.
Another of the clubs bigger fund raisers got off to its start at the November meeting. Forrest Davis handed out tickets for the 31 gun raffle which will be drawn in April. If you want tickets to sell or purchase see Forrest at the January meeting. Forrest has put together another unique list of guns to win so get some tickets and get out and sell! Tickets are $20.00 each and only 1,500 printed.
I want to thank John Trott for the donations he's made to the Greenland Point camp fund. Thanks John!!
We will have Larry Pike from the National Wild Turkey Federation speak to us at the February meeting. Larry is a district director from Skowhegan and he hopes to bring some people from the local chapter. NWTF has land enhancement programs and I'm hoping we can use this at our Stetson land. In March we will have the student scholarship recipients from University of Maine at Orono and Machias and in April we will have Warden's night and the students from Unity College.
There will be a roast beef dinner held at the Princeton Rod and Gun Club on Feb 4th at 5:30 for the purpose of fund raising for Greenland Point. These dinners are something you don't want to miss and there will be an auction following. If you want to attend talk to either Zeke Leighton or Al Faust. We also have raffle tickets available to raise $ for Greenland Point. $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Its for 10lbs of lobster, half gallon of scallops, and a side of smoked salmon. Drawing in January. See Woody, Al, or Zeke.
I have read the club history put together by Paul Uttormark and it is very interesting. He is getting feedback from other readers and could use yours. There are several copies floating around and should be available at the Jan meeting. Get one read it and send comments to Paul.
We can always use help at our Tuesday night Bingo, come on over and lend a hand.
