Presidential Ramblings:
By: Nancy Hatch, Pro-tem

Jay is vacationing in the sunny south this week, so I will attempt to write this Newsletter in his absence. We have finally gotten some snow and colder weather. It’s time to get your ice fishing gear out and get to your favorite spot to catch that big one. Not really enough snow around here for snowmobiling yet, but they are riding in the northern part of the state.

The Sportsman Show is coming together quite well. We are working to make the show a family affair. There will be activities for kids to do in addition to the air rifle and bow ranges. We will have several live animals on exhibition as well. We work each year to increase the activities to include many kinds of sporting interests. There will be Turkey Calling Competition and live entertainment, just to mention a few. As always we solicit the help of our members to make this great project happen. Please call to volunteer sometime during the show. The club phone is 989-4709. Leave your name and phone number and Jay will get back to you to confirm a good time for you to help. It is really a lot of fun, even for the workers that are there from Thursday right through to the end.

The Gun Raffle is well under way. If you can sell some tickets give us a call and we will send them to you. Call the club or Nancy at 843-7270. We will also be selling them at the Sportsman Show and need volunteers for that as well. The guns will be drawn at the Show at 3:00 P.M. Sunday.

The Club is still looking for ways to raise money for our conservation education efforts. A Golf Tournament is being investigated and we are looking at the possibility of renting the hall to outside groups and private functions. We will keep you informed as we progress. Any thoughts or suggestions from the membership would be great. Of course, if you have knowledge of fund raising activities we need your input to make it happen as well. The loyal members are volunteered to a maximum already, so as new projects unfold the need of more active members will be needed as well. Our current activities are largely accomplished by approximately 15% of the membership and it would be great if more would come forward to volunteer, if only for a few hours a year.

Supper Meeting: February 1st, 6:00 P.M. at the Clubhouse
The meal this month will be pork roast and the speaker will be Jennifer Vachon. Jennifer is an Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Bear Biologist. Hope to see all of you there.

Club Activities:

The Sportsman Show is just around the corner in March. We still have booth space available. If any of you know of anyone who would like to be in the show, please have them contact Woody. If any of you know someone who is not in the show but think they would fit with the theme of the show, talk to them and encourage them to be there.
