Presidential Ramblings:
By: Jay Munson

Well, here we are. We made it to another spring and another sportsmen’s show has come and gone. I will have to say, all things considered, we did not fair too poorly at the show. As you all know, the show attendance was down considerable Friday night and Saturday due to inclement weather. Sunday was a great day but obviously we can’t make up a day and a half’s attendance in a six hour span. On a brighter side, as far as vendors are concerned, all of our booth spaces were full.

At the risk of possibly upsetting someone I might unintentionally leave out, I would like to take this time to thank a few people for their time and efforts at the show. First and foremost I would like to thank the Show Chair and Co-Chair Woody Higgins and Nancy Hatch. I know there were others who did a lot of work, but without these two people and the amount of work they put into this show for the past 8 months the show would not have been the success that it was. I would also like to thank Peter Bartley, Tony Richards, Paul Colburn and Joe Coffin.

For those of you that attended the show you would have noticed that we have a new club booth. The booth was donated in part by Northeastern Log Homes. I would like to that Phil Franks, Joe Coffin, Woody Higgins, Deane Smith and Paul Colburn for all the work they did on this booth. The booth was very well received by both the vendors and the attendees.

Supper Meeting: April 5th, 6:00 P.M. at the clubhouse

As always, the April meeting will be Warden Appreciation night. Commissioner Martin, Deputy Commissioner Jacques and all the area wardens will be attending. This is a good chance for you to catch up with some of you old warden friends and meet some of the newer members of the warden service.

Hope to see everyone there.

Club Activities:

We are going to try a new fundraiser this year. Deane Smith is heading up a yard sale to be held at the club April 28th. We are looking for donated goods to sell in this yard sale. The goods should be clean and in good working order. We are trying to keep the clothing donation to a minimum as the average pants, shirts and skirts or not big sellers. If you have clothing of interest (wool jackets, pants or other hunting clothes) feel free to donate them.

Please contact Deane for more information on where and when to bring your donations in or in some cases have your donations picked up.

Again, as I mentioned before, we are also looking to hold a golf tournament this summer. We will be discussing this more as the time draws closer.

Work Days:
Every Tuesday night for bingo
April 28th yard sale

Reservations for the Club House:

April 13th Ethics Class
April 14th Hunter Safety Instructor recertification
April 25th Range

We had three drawings at the end of the sportsmen’s show. The drawings were for the annual canoe we give away each year plus the two guns we raffled off. The winner of the canoe was Terry Gaudet of Old Town. The winner of the Remington Shotgun was Keith Feero of Alton and the winner of the Encore Barry Stegenga of Seboeis Plt. I would like to thank everyone who sold gun raffle tickets this year. Although we only raffled of the two guns versus the 31, we did extremely well.
