Presidential Ramblings:
By: Jay Munson

I am writing this newsletter from my treestand because honestly, being on vacation and trying to get as much hunting in as possible, I forgot all about my deadline. As I write this, I realize we are fast approaching the end of another Maine Whitetail Deer season. I have been fortunate enough to have spent about 3 weeks of the season hunting with family and friends. Hunting during the day and telling stories about each other in the evening around a campfire, it has been a very enjoyable season. I hope you all have been as successful this season as I have both in getting your deer and having been with family or friends, when they get their deer.

Two of our hunting days at the camp were spent as work days. Red Hodgins was good enough to bring some of his equipment out to the land to work on the road. He spent the better part of 2 days ditching the road and installing/repairing culverts. Red also brought a load of rocks out to repair the washout before the camp. While Red was there, he used his excavator to help us erect a game pole, which I might ad has yet to be used.

I would like to thank John Trott for donating a pickup truck load of cut and split hardwood for the camp, which he delivered during the second week of the season. I would also like to thank Deane Smith and James Ashe for all the work they did around the camp these past few weeks.

Supper Meeting: Dec 7th, 6:00 P.M. at the clubhouse

The meal this month will be roast pork and the speaker will be Jim Fahey. Jim is not only a member of the club and a past recipient of one of our college scholarships, but also a Game Warden for the State of Maine who just recently moved back into the area.

I hope to all of you there.

Club Activities:

This past Saturday was the clubs first hunter’s breakfast and I am happy to say that it was a huge success. Not only did we have a large number of attendees, we also had a large number of volunteers. I would like to thank Nancy Hatch for organizing this breakfast, and all of the volunteers for help both the morning of the breakfast and the days leading up to it.
