Presidential Ramblings:
By: Jay Munson
Here we are the end of August, staring down the barrel of Labor Day weekend and the end of another summer. It seems like just yesterday we were looking forward to opening up the camps and spring fishing. Now we are thing about closing up the camps and hunting season. I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer and was able spend some of it with family and loved ones.
We had a busy summer at the club with many activities completed and many more coming up. The Tuesday night meetings have proven to me not only beneficial but also fun. I would encourage all of you to stop over to see what project is being worked on or what club issues are being discussed. These meeting are open to all members and are held the second and fourth Tuesday of each month and start between 5 and 6 in the evening.
Supper Meeting: September 6th, 6:00 P.M. at the clubhouse
The meal this month will be grilled pork Loin.
The speaker this month will be Maine Game Warden and club member Jim Fahey. Warden Fahey will be talking about some of his past and current endeavors as a Maine Warden.
I would like to encourage all of you to please attempt to make the meeting as this is your opportunity to not only catch up on old friendships and current events with in the club, but this is also your opportunity to express your cares and concerns reference the clubs and the direction it is headed in.
Hope to see everyone there.
Club Activities:
As you all know we held our first annual golf tournament on August 4th this year. I am happy to report that this event was a huge success and with the help of many local business’ and a few club members, we were able to raise a considerable amount of money for the club and our trust fund. I would especially like to think my wife Kelly. If not for her countless hours of golfer recruitment and hole sponsorships solicitation I am afraid we would not have realized the same outcome. I would also like to thank the members who did help with this event. I will refrain from mentioning names only for fear of leaving someone out.
The annual gun show will be held on September 8th and 9th. Please make contact with Charlie Rumsey if you are able to help. Charlie will require some help both Saturday and Sunday checking guns in and also guarding doors.
The club will be raffling off a hunting rifle this fall as a fund raiser. We will be selling tickets at the gun show as well as mailing tickets out to each club member. We would like to see each member purchase the tickets sent to them as a way of supporting the club. We would also like to see each member then request additional tickets that can in turn be sold to family, friends and coworkers.
The date for the fall breakfast at the camp will be on Oct 6th at starting at 8 A.M. Please plan on attending as this is a great time. Not only will you receive a wonderful breakfast and great company, there will also be skeet shooting and a chance to see the improvements made to the camp and the land.
The club will be holding its annual Hunter Safety coarse Oct 13th and 14th. If you know anyone who needs the hunter safety coarse please have them call the clubhouse and leave a message or e-mail me at the address on our website.
The date for the second annual hunter’s breakfast is Nov 17th. Please put this date on your calendar and I will be writing more about it as the date draws closer.
Work Days:
Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at the clubhouse.
